Can someone please help.?

I cannot download for example drivers (never gets past 0% loaded) and other .exe downloads, youtube videos freeze after about 3 secs, and some websites do not open (although multi-clicking them sometimes helps). I am lost at what to do.

Please help.

System is Win Vista Home Premium
AMD Athlon64 64 X3 TK-57

Many Thanks

Roxy

Although it may not be the problem this time, these are classic symptoms of a virus.
Try to update your anti virus and run a full scan.
If you can download malwarebytes and make a full scan
With your current problem do what you can and report back

Thank you for advice. However, after scan with my McAfee, there was a virus that has been cleared, but problem remains. Can you or somebody offer further advice.

Hello and welcome to the Forums, as you have download issues and McAfee found one threat, please use this : ESET :: Get a FREE Online Virus Scan
When the scan completes, push List of found threats
Push export to text file , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
Push the Back button.
Push Finish
NOTE: In some instances if no malware is found there will be no log produced.
Post back with that log if able to use this please.

Download malwarebytes, update it and make a full scan
If negative, using another computer save the download to a finger drive and then see if you can install from there.

Unable to load Malwarebytes (freezes at 39% download).

Nevermind, it said no downloads if using IE>. i just tried it with IE and it does indeed want you to install a part of it. Use another computer to make a dvd/cd or thumb drive as Rich has suggested , use the Malwarebytes first . Just so you know, i use Firefox , and i did download that program and even though i use MSE and a paid Malwarebytes , Eset still found 5 issues , which kinda surprised me.

Hello Roxy,

This might be a root kit,One in general(Zero Access). If you could get your MAch. into Safe mode with Networking
and then go online to Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller (SAFE MODE)w/networking:> How to start Windows in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking - ESET Knowledgebase
about mid page click on the download for the .zip & open folder
you may need 7-zip or some comparable to open zip files.
Once extracted you will have a folder open with a read me file and the Tdskiller.exe file/double click to run.
then you will be prompted to update click update.
let it go to update and open update, then run scan/
hopefully you can find and heal if it is a root kit.
Please respond if you try this option./
