Help needed
I currently have a HP P6061uk PC and already have a Dlink PCI card installed for Wifi. I have just purchased a Dynamode WL-GI-600-11N PCI card to replace it from www.scan.co.uk. The problem I am having is that when I plug the card into the slot Vista does not detect it and no new hardware found. I then try to run the set up disk that came with it that states Vista compatible and an error is returned. I have also tried to install direct from a folder and it just loops stating that I need to plug the card in first.
I have looked on the Dynamode site and the card is not even listed, no response from the many emails sent to support and calls just go to a busy rann.
Im running Vista Home Prem 64bit.

I have been able to install the card in an XP PC without any issues so I know its not a card fault.

Any help you can offer would be gratefully received.

Try swapping the slots with your sound card. If no sound card, just try another slot. It could be an IRQ conflict. Please let me know if this helped.

Hi thanks for the reply, the the Mother board only has 1 PCI slot and two smaller slots PCI-E ports i think. There is a graphiics card slot but that has the graphics card installed and no other options for graphics built in.

Okay, if you have another network card, try disabling it from bios (I'm guessing it's not in one of your slots).

After that, run sfc /scannow from an admin command prompt.

I take the current card out of the slot and install the new card, so there is only one card in the system at any one time.

All sorted, thanks for your help everyone. The start in safe mode worked but not sure if thats also due to SP2 being installed by microsoft. Ive had the PC for 3 weeks now and run update after update but only today did SP2 become available to me.
Thanks for the link to the Dynamode site, the site i bought it from had a diferent link to a very basic site.

Again all thanks very much.
