Solved Error 1018 & 1019 - Esent 474 & 476 cannot detect HDD

Dear Vista Forum,

I recently got a weird issue that my PC cannot detect HDD. This happened all of sudden, and now each time I want to boot up my PC, I must wait hours and hours for the Bios to detect the HDD. I use Vista Home Premium 32 bit and in Event viewer I found the following errors:

Catalog Database (1412) Catalog Database: The database page read from the file "C:\Windows\system32\CatRoot2\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\catdb" at offset 1187840 (0x0000000000122000) (database page 289 (0x121)) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes failed verification due to a page checksum mismatch. The expected checksum was 69681549426688 (0x00003f6000004000) and the actual checksum was 1244332967133 (0x00000121b80644dd). The read operation will fail with error -1018 (0xfffffc06). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

Could someone help me how to resolve this? I read some info from Microsoft about using Eseutil, but I don't really understand about it and I don't want to make this problem worse by doing a silly mistake. What I could figure out so far is that the issue is related to HDD index. I disabled HDD index from HDD propery as well as disabling Vista Index, but problems remain still. This is frustrating and again, I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Welcome
It may very well be the hard drive; back up your stuff now.
Then we can test your drive. Download crystal disc and upload a screen shot to us.
If that is negative, run a full anti virus scan, and then download and run a full scan with malwarebytes.

Thank you for replying to my post. I have installed new HDD, and everythings works well ever since. No more Esent 474 & 476. So, I guess 6 years is pretty much the life span for my previous HDD. Again, I appreciate the reply.
