Experience with people who are computer illiterate

Ok just post your experience with people who are computer illiterate.
So here is mine:

Friend: "Hey man I'm gonna upgrade the graphics card on my laptop to a nVidia GTX 285!"

Me: "Don't you need at lease a 600W PSU?"

Friend: "Oh yea I almost forgot to tell you, I'm just going to put it in an external case when I get it!"

Me: "How are you going to put in the graphics card?"

Friend: "External case."

Me: "So how are you going to do this, you don't even know how to upgrade the RAM..."

Friend: "Well I'm just going to take it to the repair shop and just wave a $100 bill at them"

After that i just hung up and said "dumb***" (cencored to protect the innocent)

Oh dear, where to start...

I think I have talk in here about the people who folded their 5.25 inch floppies so they would fit into the 3.5 inch drive, or the one who cut theirs to fit.

Or the executive making over $100,000 per year who kept putting his coffee cup in the cd play tray.

Or the guy who typed 'format' and left off the 'A:' and wound up formatting drive C:, not once, but twice, in the same day.

Or the several university students who read the sign in the computer lab to back up their homework before shutting off the computer. Who then proceeded to look at the back of their floppy, said 'Is this side up ?', then shut off the computer. They hadn't saved anything to the hard drive or the floppy, just typed their homework in Word or Excel.

Or the many students who didn't want to spend one dollar for a plastic case for their floppies, and instead tossed the floppy into a large text book and slammed ! the book closed. Then wondered about mid-term why the floppy stopped working.

Well, a family I once new payed an expert (sarcasm quotes) three hundred dollars to setup a printer and optimize Vista (i.e. run Windows Update, change the desktop background, and such.) Afterward the system idled at 1.6 GB and took two minutes to boot. Wouldn't let me touch it tough...

This link must come with a warning. I just spent a whole hour laughing at random idiots before remembering that time still moves.

My grandmother needs help with just about anything with computers. She still doesn't know if her files are saved on the computer (the monitor), the hard drive, or her modem. And still can't figure out how to delete voice messages from her cellphone which has the simplest instructions: "press 2 to delete this message". Every few months I spend a good half an hour just pressing 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2...

Last year I got a call for help by a neighbor. His PC was infested with malware. I reinstalled his XP and asked him to buy a security program (Norton IS09 was just on sale for $20). He thought that this was too much money and kept visiting his porn sites. The free AVG I had installed apparently did not do the job. In no time he called again because of the same problems. I told him to get lost.

Yeah, I have had that site bookmarked for years.

I submitted the story about the folder and the 2 'cut to fit' 5.25 inch floppies into a 3.5inch floppy drive, but they never posted it. I figure they decided nobody could possible have done such a thing.

Haha after a while you build up a massive amount of classic moments of stupidity with users.
