External hard drive

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with opening and transfering files from hp pocket media drive(320 gb) to my computer (Vista home premium 64, HP Pavilion dv 7).
All the files are compressed (zipped) and I don't know how to open them and transfer them back on my computer.
I also don't have a lot of experience with computers.

Are these files from windows backup? For example, if they were they would be called Backup_set1 or something like that with backup in the name and numbered in ascending order.

Yes they are.
It says back up files and when you click on it the numbers are in order,but I dont know how to open them and even see what it is!

Its very frustrating when you dont know what to do.
Also,there are 2 other files besides backup (marija pc and documentation) that I cant open.

Do you want to restore all of the files/folders or some of them?

Yes,Im using Vista Home Premium and would like to restore everything.
I already copied all the files to my desktop,but nothing happend.
What do you think I should do?

Hey Tom,
Thanks a lot for your advice.
I did the whole thing and none of my pictures or documents are back
I dont think I did anything wrong and I know those files still exist.
What should I do next?
