Vista Home Premium.

need some help on how i can get this machine functional again.

i do have the vista installation disc unfortunately due to the short length of the SATA connectors from the power supply they simply do not reach the ROM drive while being connected to the hard drive at the same time.

if anyone needs any more info just ask.
help would be much appreciated,

Hello and welcome to the forum...

Can you tell me if you can get to your main desktop if not have you tried to boot in safe mode. Here's how to boot in safe mode just in case.

But please let me know if you can get to your desktop.

That driver may very well be a name changing Trojan. My conclusion is based upon the fact that using Google and several other search engines, no topics are shown. May I suggest that you do not attemp any other solutions until our Security expert takes a look. At this stage, you can safely do a format with a reinstall, but I will have her come and give her opinion.

Hi gordie,
That file is malware. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
|MG| Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 Download
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.
