folder view keeps changing

first of all, all of my computer's folders by default is in Details view. why is that and
how can i change it?

second, I have a folder on the desktop that i choose Large icons view
but keep changing to details view.
I went to the customize this folder options and chose file type: "pictures and videos"
and the icons were large again. but after a while changes back to details!

this drives me crazy, would appreciate any help!
