Format and factory install a Gateway Laptop

Thanks. The computer is like 4 years old. 2mb ram 1.46 ghz. I did find a company called restoredisks.com let's hope that works and it's not a scam !

I think a good question to ask before you buy that is do you have your product key?

It would be on a sticker like this,

Gateway Support - Where is the Windows Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker located on the portable computers?

They state right on their page they do not provide them,

So I thought I would report back! I'm back online! I bought these disks from that company, www.restoredisks.com . I went online trying to find reviews and I couldn't find any that were that helpful. So I ordered the disks, they were like $30. It came with 2 discs, and I popped them into my computer and crossed my fingers!! It reformated and brought my computer back to factory default... EXACTLY what I wanted. I can't believe I had to get these disks via this company, and GATEWAY told me they didn't have it and to go buy a brand new Windows Disk. Unbelievable.

By the way, my disk didn't ask me for a product key or anything. Although my sticker is on that back of the computer.

Anyway, I hope my crazy long computer problem is able to help someone else!

Great, now go get all your updates and be sure to use good programs to protect your computer, May i recommend the Microsoft Security Essentials, free of Malwarebytes and free of SuperAntiSpyware ? Also, Sandboxie is free .. Stay safe !!

I guess that's a positive review for that company then, they must be official discs since they recognized your hardware and automatically accepted the SLP key on the disc.

This is very strange. I got a Vista recovery disc from Gateway for $20 S&H. But that was 3 years ago. Since they are part of Acer, the company really went downhill. The also had their on-line service out of South Dakota and Utah - and those guys were really good. Now it is in India with bad lines and people that speak some local dialect.
