ServiWin

ServiWin is a nice utility from NirSoft that displays the Drivers and Services in your system. The reason I use it is the Services Applet in Control Panel has no search function. You just scroll down the list waiting for your eyes to adjust trying to read the names of the Services until you find the one you want.

With ServiWin just hit Control-f to search the services. The only thing Services Applet has that ServiWin doesn't is the ability to set the service to Automatic (delayed start) startup type. But that setting is rarely used. (I sent the author a feature request to add it. There may be some reason it's difficult to program or it would likely have already been there.)

Note that by default ServiWin comes up with the Drivers View active rather than Services. Just push the button on the Toolbar. It will remember it when closed.

There are lots of gems on NirSoft site

New site for my Software

It's still a work in progress but my free Windows programs are available for download again:
Miles Ahead Software

It will be spiffed up a bit and Donation Buttons added eventually. A friend is doing the web pages for me and hosting the files. As always, they are free to use at your own risk. :)

Edit: Note that the About Boxes and Readme files for the programs still need to be updated with the new url/copyright dates etc..

My site, milesaheadsoftware.tk, seems to be down for some reason. It may have been tagged because of a problem with a site of the same name, different domain. But in any case, until I find out what's up with it please use these links to download my freeware:

More programs by FavesSoft LLC - Softpedia

Miles Ahead Windows Downloads Index

Edit:

While waiting for the resolution of this domain issue I registered another and just forwarded it to ILikeFree's page he made for me.

http://milesaheadfreeware.tk
should bring you there

It's just easier to remember.

I was thinking about installing Avira until I learned that they ended support for Vista about 2 years ago:
Avira Product Lifecycle Archive

I therefore nominate Avira for de-listing, unless someone has knowledge that it still works on Vista.

Never mind. I found a working build. And I also tried Vista Visual Master. Neither can allow animated boot logo screens though. So I'll stick with the default boot screen.
