Graphics card problems

Help me. My Vista Home Premium runs an Express chipset family that came with the PC, not meant for gaming. What is the best card I could get for games like Portal 2 and Garry's Mod that will also stop lag on other 3d games meant for home computers? I'm only 13, so I just want to know what would be best to get that would probable be compatible with my PC, nothing complicated. But I am interested in getting into computer engineering. But that's not important. HELP! But for now I get angry.
