Gulftown Polski?

A Polish Website PClabs has been the first to get their hands on an Intel Gulftown CPU (core i9) this is expected to give a major increase in performance for just about any program and multi-threaded or not.
If your internet browser wont translate, you might have to ask my grandad.
Having had the nation crushed in WWII, it is good to see that Poland is back in the 21st Century getting ahead of Germany

The processor will be so strong it will probably fight itself. Some quad cores do that now and it we go to even more cores...the pc just wont be able to run good. Sounds cool but im sure I wont have it.

I have discovered from using a Dell T5400 everyday of the week that only one core an operate on one program unless it is written to run on more than one core. The PC has a Dual CPU XEON quad core...IE 8 Theoretical cores...and runs horrible at times. It only executes programs on on core at a time...wasted resources. If you try and make it run on more than one core it "fights" itself because it cant calculate the operations effectively. This may be a select case but I use 3D CAD on it and it does it horribly under intense loads where calculating surfaces/solids can only be done on one core. That may be the way the program is written but at least this is my experience.

The link above goes to a Core i7 in the CPU-Z info link on that page. That isnt an i9. Does that even exist or is it just a hoax?

ok Blackhawk, the problem with using any multicore CPU is how badly it will handle single-threaded applications.
There are some options you can take to make your computer more multi-core friendly.
in msconfig you can enable windows to boot faster by enabling more cores.
The thing about corei7 and the new i9 is the turbo boost mode (or whatever it is called) which overclocks individual cores for faster performance, on more demanding applications.
Another thing is the CPU architechture. If multi-cores werent the way to go, then by your reasoning a pentium 4 overclocked to 4 Ghz would outstrip a core i7 overclocked to 4ghz (for single threaded applications). We know this not to be true, because by balancing the load for each application will by all means speed up any application. Single or multi-threaded, each application has more than one single line of code for each app, whereby this is balanced. Along with the die-shrink and the turbo boost mode CPU's with multiple cores can balance the load better and speed things up by overclocking the core that is running harder or more demanding code than the others.
This is how the 6 - core gulftown CPU would generically run. 1st core - OS, 2nd core - program, 3rd another program, 4th, 5th, 6th are for others as well (or all 6 just running different code on every core for the OS). having more cores is a better thing, it can speed up applications by individualising the codes run within them and balance them out accordingly and on top of that have faster times because of the die shrink that they offer in comparison to older generations of CPU's they also have faster clocks (per core - added together) than older CPU's, a faster FSB and more L3 cache which is essential to improved speed for any program - its like having 6 dedicated CPU's instead of one. Albeit at slower speeds, but turbo boost juices a core up if its taxing and then balances the load out. The future is multi-threaded programs anyway, the programs we use now are dedicated to cores, if not balanced, then distributed OS for one core, programs for the other (dual core processor)

Enabling multicores in msconfig buys you nothing. This function is there for some special testing purposes.
