hard drive advice

i would like to install a ssd drive and load vista 64 bit on it for faster boots and then run a 1.5tb hard drive as a second drive for storage but i have no idea how to do it can anyone help? do i just open the comp and conect both and viola or is there more

you for that great information it was a great little read with the morning coffee,as i understand it there is no need to change anything in bios,also whenever dowloading something one would have to change the drive letter for install or the files will be saved to the ssd by default is that correct? i guess i'll give this a shot but i'll prolly be back with a few more questions after i screw this up as i know i will in some shape or form,(can i do any permanent damage to my pc or ssd by doing this?)

Hello SEMPER-FI,

No problem, the pleasure is all mine. Nope, as long as you format the partitions correctly (as shown in the tutorial) you should be fine as the BIOS will boot from the partition with the designated bootloader on it.
That's a very good question actually, it may be possible to do it automatically with junction points but I'll have to look into this for you. In the mean time, I will ask a friend of mine how he does it - he also has an SSD and HDD set up.
The worst case scenario will be that you will lose your data - so make sure it's all backed up But as long as you connect everything correctly, there shouldn't be any hardware faults.

there both brand new drives so data loss is not a concern here before i start i assume i would need to load each drive by itself and run a 3rd party software to format both bare drives before righting to them well atleast the ssd since ill be using a restore disk and loading oem factory images correct?

As far as I'm aware, you'll have to connect the SSD. Install Windows to it and then go about partitioning it etc. as said in the tutorial

With that much space, you really dont need to do any of the space saving stuff.
