i just noticed that the jumper block on my seagate barricuda is restricting my data flow to 1.5Gbs while the drive is rated to 3.0Gbs with the jumper removed now for my question can i remove the jumper block and will it cause any problems as this is my main hard drive will the computer recognise the difference and act accordingly or will it ask me to do anything silly like reinstall vista!!!

i now know why my HDD score on my wei is low at 5.8!

oh if anyone knows while they are reading this why is does the wei only go to 5.9??

thanks for your help on this cheers

gazz496,

By all means remove the jumper. Your motherboard supports the SATA 3.0 Gbit/s standard.

There will certainly be a performance increase. How much your actually feel is another story. You could run a benchmark before and after to get an absolute sense of the performance gain. Vista will not complain at all and nothing else will need to be done on your part.
