So I am fixing my moms computer, a Dell desktop running vista h.p. 64. I booted it up and it went to system restore, and came out with an error like this: Vista start up repair failed?..
I then tried to run all of the options that the computer gives me, including startup repair, system restore, complete pc restore, memory diagnosic tool, open cmd. I have not tried the factory reinstall, as i would rather not loose her data. I cannot run either restores formally mentioned, as she never backed up and created a restore.
Now, when i boot to safe mode, it will redirect me to the original screen i linked, creating a loop. Booting into any safe mode does this. Also, when i try to insert the vista repqir disc and select boot from CD drive, it again loops back to the mentioed screen.
I then tried to place the diseased hd into the primary slot of another desktop of simialr age, so that i could boot it, copy her files onto an extrenal, then do a clean install of vista. This resulted in it coming to a black screen that says, media test failure, pxe, check cable.
And im stuck. Can anyone take over?
