Solved Help with disabling intergrated graphics

I didn't think drivers could be run in a compatibilty mode as they drive the system... only programs I thought.

Try doing a system recovery from your startup cd.

First of all. IT WORKS ON XP. But NOT VISTA!!!!!!! which means im stuck on dx9 with a dx 10 card.

Second: everytime i do a FRESH install of vista and i put the card IN it shows the screen at 640X480 or whatever. BUT even if i DONT install drivers, when i next boot it wont show the screen.

Third: Same thing happenes on windows 7

I have a question. Have you gone through the BIOS and seen if theres a "Disable onboard Graphics"

THIS WAY IT"LL FORCE WINDOWS , oops, to use the ati card?

You could also try after the system booted, put the screen on to the onboard card. This'll determine which card the systems outputting too.

Ok... first: theres no option in BIOS.

second: if i take the ati card out and connect monitor cables to onboard then YES. i can see vista. BUT then when i try again to do the card. goes no thurther than the Windows Logo.

Okay on the bios.

No, sorry you misunderstood, when you have both cards in the machine... You say you can hear windows load. So I was thinking that maybe windows V or 7 is going back to the onboard.

So boot up with both in, and see if the onboard got switched to after it booted. Maybe then try to install the graphics drivers.

Technically, you can use both as dual monitors, so maybe theres a setting in the ati drivers to grab the card as main one.

Ok sorry if i mis understood.

But if i do a fresh install the screen shows one time. EVEN if i dont install drivers the computer messes up after. BUT I DO get a message saying
Standard VGA Graphics Adapter has been installed. does that have anything to do with it???

Oh and for windows 7 even with the intergrated graphics the whole hard drive hangs at the windows logo for EVERun till i turn off.

BTW when i first reinstalled vista i looked into device manager and said code 12 :Code 12: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use

Hmmm, thats definately your cause.... Grrr i'd hate to suggest to disable the onboard via the device manage, as someones did that by accident and is now having this issue right now that they can't even see anything.

I'd save your files somewhere safe, and then try disabling the on board via the device manager... reboot then see if your card comes alive.

Ohhh.. i tried that. *sigh. I like vista cuz the wireless is more faster and has direct x 10 and awesome themes. i have just contacted AMIBIOS but the might take a while knowing manufactures

Could you have a bad pci-e socket? I don't know..... I've never read anyone having this much of an issue with getting the card running...

Doh, forgot that.

Fr some reason, your computer is setting the resources to the same ones as your onboard.

I think the issue is Vista and the way it divides up its resources.

This Im not knowedgableon vistas insides.

hey no prob. I tried windows 7. Its different. It halts at a file named ClassPNP.SYS. I have looked on google IM EAGER TO GET THIS SORTED.

There should be absolutely no reason why the card shouldn't work. Theres just something we all are missing.

HMmmmm. yes but what..... Im positive thers no option in bios. the onboard drivers reinstall if i disable or uninstall. Right now im using the intergrated and i CAN'T PLAY MY GAMES!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
