As you can see, the Icons have like a White or Black thing round them.
I think the smoothing is not ok. I also Can`t enable the Aero Scheme, don`t know why.

I just turned my Computer off, and when i turned it on again, there was no Wallpaper, the wallpaper was a gray solid color, and the Bar, the one that has the quick launch, etc was all black, it wasn`t on Aero Scheme, the way it was.

I tried System Restore, searched for Virus in AVG on Slow Scan, and adjusted it for best appearence in Advanced System Settings

Found the SOlution! I had the same problem, aero used to work then all of a suddent i restarted one day and it stupped. Ive been reading all over to figure it out and nothing. Finally I came across something. I hope you guys get a chance to read this and fix yours, even though I knoow most posts are from a long time ago. Below are the steps to check to fix it. What fixes it (well for me) was to go to Start > run, type "services.msc" Then enable the 'Desktop Windows Manager' and start it! Lol I dont know how but that did it!! Hope it works for you all:

First, ensure that your version of Vista has Aero. Home Premium, Business & Ultimate have Aero.
Also ensure that your Graphic card supports WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model)
Next, right-clicking on the desktop, select Personalize.
Click on Themes and select the default Windows Vista themes.
Next, in Windows Color & Appearance, ensure that Enable Transparency is checked.
Also ensure that 'Desktop Windows Manager' Service is set on Automatic.
Now, inspite of this, you still find that Aero does not work, or your Aero has stopped working, simply copy-paste the following command in Vista Start Menus Search Box, and hit Enter.
rundll32.exe Dwmapi.dll,DwmEnableComposition

This will re-enable Aero by flushing it.​

I did everything just the way you said, and it didn`t worked.
I still can`t have Aero nor good-smoothed icons =(

Solved !

The problem was the resolution ( It was on 1024x768 ) the computer automatically set that, so the Icons were not transparent nor well-smoothed.
I set it to 1440x900 again, and hopefully the Aero came back, and i have well-smoothed icons again. (that was actually so simple, i thought i already had a graphic card problem. =)
