How many computers does everyone own?

Hi all,
Currently have two desktops.
1. Vista Home Premium SP1 x64 ASUS M3A78-T AMD Phenom X4 9950 (use daily).
2. Win XP Media Center 2005 SP3 ECS C51PVGM-M AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+ ( keep in a box for backup because I've been caught short too many times).

Have a new ASUS M3A78-EM mATX board in a box just waiting for a project.

That will NOT fix the problem. That allows you to read the BSOD stop code before you restart. Next time you get the screen, stop and WRITE down the stop code. It will look similar to 0x00000000A.

I just got the BSOD again after many days.
I had been signed in here at VF all day but was away from pc. Came back on, did not log out of VF, went to a recipe site, downloaded recipes, then clicked in my favorites to go to one of my Bird Boards. The BSOD happened just then, before I got the Bird site to open.

The screen, among many other things, said
Bad Pool Caller
Stop
0X0000002
collecting data for crash dump

I restarted in safe mode signed in as admin.
From there I was lost so restarted as usual.

Windows recovered, searched for solution

Only thing I remember doing today was I got an auto update on Avast, I think I got a Windows update this morning, too. Oh, I also changed screen resolution again.
Anything look helpful?

I just got the BSOD again but the number this time was 0X00000018.

I looked and have a yellow triangle next to 6TO4 Adapters. Properties says "This device cannot start" Code 10

I am almost ready to ship this sucker back to Gateway. I have a lousy keyboard, too. It doesn't like vowels or "n's."

Hello Annie,

If you don't mind I would like to put my two cents here. Since you are fighting with your lappy for so long, why dont you reinstall the operating system to the original factory settings.

To do this restart your computer then press the F10 key repeatedly, when Gateway Recovery Management opens, click Restore system from factory default. Click Next to continue. This will take some time to finish, but after that you will have your computer just like you opened the box with it for the first time. You will have to update all drivers and download all Windows updates.

Before you will decide to do this please backup your files and everything you want to keep on the DVDs and/or external hard disk, because this process will erase all data on the C partition.

You can download the manual for your notebook here:http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals/Mobile/MUWA200008_Ajax2_eRecovery_Ref_Gde_R1_web.pdf
Please read about recovery options on the page 90.

The all drivers you will find on the Gateway site, here's the link. Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads

Click My Downloads on the Gateway site and enter the serial number there. It will automatically show you the correct drivers for your machine, so you can download them all and burn on the CD for the future use.

There is also possibility to clean install Windows OS from DVD disc, but it will take more time to set everything to the working order.

I hope it will help you somehow, thanks for reading.

Cheers...

BTW, here you can find all info over your machine Gateway Support - MD78*Gateway MD78 Series Notebook

No offense taken :)

You could try right clicking on this 6TO4 Adapter and click "update driver". If it doesn't automatically update, then right click on it again and click update driver, then click "browse my computer for software" then "let me pick from a list of drivers". If the "Show compatible hardware" box is ticked, then untick it and scroll down the list to Microsoft, then in the other box scroll down to Microsoft 6TO4 adapter and click Next and let it install.

If this doesn't change anything, like you still get blue screens, then go back to device manager, right click on 6TO4 adapter and uninstall it. Your network adapter in your laptop won't support this adapter.

I am not connected wirelessly to my other computers due to a problem with one of them.
1) A dell 610 Laptop with XP Pro on a cofee table next to mine in the sound room, and a P3 CPU along with a newly repaired Dell 8300 P4 also with XP pro hooked up to a 36 inch TV in the family room for the kids.
2) A home built AMD dual core with BD capability and running XP pro for the wife in the extra bedroom on a tiny 15 inch Dell monitor.
3) A Home built Intel i7 with Vista 64 hooked up to a major sound system and a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma for me.:geek:

Hmmmm, interesting that you get the great big 36 and 50 inch screens and wifey got the dinky little 15 incher. Wifey needs to go on a shopping trip, alone, with the credit card.

Exactly. I've done it for years. Memorized that CC number in one day and go get whatever I want. He can't believe that I can tell him the number, exp date, and pin code without the card. Sneaky, aren't we?
But, I won't do it unless I know we can pay it as soon as the statement arrives. Don't like fighting at all.

Exactly. It's funny how we can hide things right under their nose's and they don't even notice. ( I bet if it was a case of beer they would) no offence to the men!!!!!!

True but wifey gets to stay at home and not work yet still get what seems more money then I get paid after all the bills and expenses come out of what I am able to bring home and she with the two kids get to take a trip back to Thailand every year and most of all I get to repair the PC she uses every day from the downloads she does. As I am at work 12 hours a day she gets the use of the 50 inch Plasma much more then I do as when I get home I cook, bath the kids, clean up the dishes, take the poopy diapers out as with the trash before I head out to work.

Take a breath

And set up, cancel, do everything that requires communication with the world and be the taxi driver every place..........even though she has her own vehicle.........It is not as bad as it sounds................We share in everything we do, as we are partners. All in all it balences out. The main reason she does not care for the Intel system is she does not like Vista 64. Most of her programs need XP which I have set up on a second drive just for her to boot up on the main system today before replying back to this so thoughtful posting of me feeling like being hung up and left to dry out in the heated sun. Not that women would feel like men are not trying to be fair after they hear all the details. There is much more that My wife and I have done together for her family back in Thailand such as paying for 40 acres as well as building a new house with all the latest upgrades for her parents and bringing her mother here to CA hopefully after she does the interview for her B2 Visa. Her father is afraid to fly, by the way. Not to mention I have been commited to take the two day flight there in these troubled times to escort her back here to CA in a one trip one day stay over back to back as I speak Thai and she does not speak English. I am no saint but I am not the bad seed that the tiny 15 Inch monitor is made up to be. Owe and bye the way I have asked her repeatedly to change the Monitor to a large LCD but she refuses to try and save money. I love my wife and feel so lucky to have such a smart woman!
