True but wifey gets to stay at home and not work yet still get what seems more money then I get paid after all the bills and expenses come out of what I am able to bring home and she with the two kids get to take a trip back to Thailand every year and most of all I get to repair the PC she uses every day from the downloads she does. As I am at work 12 hours a day she gets the use of the 50 inch Plasma much more then I do as when I get home I cook, bath the kids, clean up the dishes, take the poopy diapers out as with the trash before I head out to work.

Take a breath

And set up, cancel, do everything that requires communication with the world and be the taxi driver every place..........even though she has her own vehicle.........It is not as bad as it sounds................We share in everything we do, as we are partners. All in all it balences out. The main reason she does not care for the Intel system is she does not like Vista 64. Most of her programs need XP which I have set up on a second drive just for her to boot up on the main system today before replying back to this so thoughtful posting of me feeling like being hung up and left to dry out in the heated sun. Not that women would feel like men are not trying to be fair after they hear all the details. There is much more that My wife and I have done together for her family back in Thailand such as paying for 40 acres as well as building a new house with all the latest upgrades for her parents and bringing her mother here to CA hopefully after she does the interview for her B2 Visa. Her father is afraid to fly, by the way. Not to mention I have been commited to take the two day flight there in these troubled times to escort her back here to CA in a one trip one day stay over back to back as I speak Thai and she does not speak English. I am no saint but I am not the bad seed that the tiny 15 Inch monitor is made up to be. Owe and bye the way I have asked her repeatedly to change the Monitor to a large LCD but she refuses to try and save money. I love my wife and feel so lucky to have such a smart woman!

That sucks, I save money I don't go a buy things all the time. I mean I say at home with my three kids (and another one on the way) but I at least buy my hubby things he wants with the money.

Mike, I am sorry you have such problems but let me tell you a bit about mine. I have always done all the house work, the laundry, the babies, the school runs, all lawn and pasture work, mowing, planting, etc. I loved every minute of it. Hubby worked very long hours as a physician. Night time was never without ringing phones. We never went anywhere except in two cars because he was likely to be called to the hospital and I would have had to hitch a ride home. Then 7 years ago I began to have heart attacks. Three. 4 heart surgeries. Now I can't do much but cook and sit at this machine. Sometimes too sick to cook.
We all have our problems, our own seeming the worst. I have come to terms with the fact that I could die any day now. OK, I have had a good, make that wonderful life, and am ready, whatever happens next. I am 71 years old, began computer use 9 years ago and it has saved my sanity. I get to talk to you even though I can't go bye-bye any more. Just 3 weeks ago I left the house and went to town by myself for the first time in 5 years. Doctors visits and hosptal stays don't count. There are lots of those.

I really was teasing you about the TVs. Should have worded it so that you knew that. Very sorry to make you feel bad.

And believe me, I do not need sympathy. I understand my disease and am very careful to take good care of myself for the time I have left.

Bless you and your family. I hope life eases up for you.
Annie

Congrats on #1000. Wow!!!! :geek: Dang, I hope that's not insulting. It's a compliment from a nitwit to a smart fella.

I just got the BSOD again but the number this time was 0X00000018.

I looked and have a yellow triangle next to 6TO4 Adapters. Properties says "This device cannot start" Code 10

I am almost ready to ship this sucker back to Gateway. I have a lousy keyboard, too. It doesn't like vowels or "n's."

Hello Annie,

If you don't mind I would like to put my two cents here. Since you are fighting with your lappy for so long, why dont you reinstall the operating system to the original factory settings.

To do this restart your computer then press the F10 key repeatedly, when Gateway Recovery Management opens, click Restore system from factory default. Click Next to continue. This will take some time to finish, but after that you will have your computer just like you opened the box with it for the first time. You will have to update all drivers and download all Windows updates.

Before you will decide to do this please backup your files and everything you want to keep on the DVDs and/or external hard disk, because this process will erase all data on the C partition.

You can download the manual for your notebook here:http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals/Mobile/MUWA200008_Ajax2_eRecovery_Ref_Gde_R1_web.pdf
Please read about recovery options on the page 90.

The all drivers you will find on the Gateway site, here's the link. Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads

Click My Downloads on the Gateway site and enter the serial number there. It will automatically show you the correct drivers for your machine, so you can download them all and burn on the CD for the future use.

There is also possibility to clean install Windows OS from DVD disc, but it will take more time to set everything to the working order.

I hope it will help you somehow, thanks for reading.

Cheers...

Martee, I am so sorry. I completely overlooked your post #73. I am trying to avoid having so much to do over if I reformat. I will if have to.
The Gateway tech sent me a two page letter of instructions to follow and send the results back to her to see if she can help. Haven't had a chance yet to get going on it. It looks very intimidating.

I once had a problem with XP and invited a Gateway tech into my pc to look at it. They had it repaired in minutes. May have to do that again.
Sure would save my nerves.
Again, apologies for missing your reply.

I don't take offense in anything as I always feel I need to do more to help my wife as the kids are so crazy all the time and I understand how hard she has it. This is why we have done everything to bring her Mother here to vist, not stay just visit. I do know I could not be as sane as she is from all the headache the children lay on her 24/7. I do what I can to help her and listen when she says something! All that I mean is I respect her and I am grateful for the wonderful job she has done with the children. The fact of the 15" monitor is all on her as I wished she would allow us to get a large screen HDTV to hook up. What can I say,..............when she says NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have to obey that and respect her decision. Heck, I have agreed to travel to Thailand and pick up her mother to transport her here if she gets the B2 VISA(tourist Visa) even though there is all the worry about a revolution. Fortunately I am able to speak both Ebglish and Thai. If I can make it thru Iraq 2X, I feel safe in walking in Bangkok! I fought 6 Muslims in a back alley when I was in Phuket with her back in 2003 getting items from a closing store ithat was owned by a friend of my wifes in Phuket and knocked two out cold with side kicks to their heads. That was real fun explaining to the Thai Police about that incident! My wife and sons are my life so GOD help anyone who attempts to do harm to them! That incodent happened before we were married and children we have now but she does remind me of it to keep me in check.

An update about my help from the Microsoft techie. She ran thru all the info I sent and told me to disable my True Vector service. Explained step by step how to do it. So far, so good. Haven't had a blue screen so far today.

I haven't been on much for two days. Woke up blind in one eye yesterday so I have been in doctors' offices yesterday and today. I have blood clots in both eyes. Stuff is still blurred but at least I can see if I squint.

You guys are getting reps from me for trying to help, just have to figure out how I do that.

Thanks heaps.

Thank you Gary. I misspoke when I said Gateway was helping me via email. It was Microsoft and I think we've done it.

I want to apologize to everyone for putting this problem post in the Chillout room and thank you for not chastizing me for my mistake. I'll watch where I am the future.

Awww, phooey. I got another blue screen as I plugged in my camera tonight. Scared me silly because I had just taken about 6 photos of a painted bunting. (Wild bird native only to OK, TX and AR) and I'd have cried if they had disappeared.
I wrote Microsoft with the same incident number. We'll see what she thinks now.
I'll keep you posted on the results.

Awwww, thank you, Jake. I still have my pics but they sure don't compare to these. I have a dinky Oly Camedia. I want whatever these photographers have. :D
Here's a link to the best one I got.

Most were blurred because he stayed on the other side of the tree and the camera kept focusing on limbs, not bird.

The new feeder must have enticed him to come here.

No matter how I look at it she has taken such wonderful care of our two young boys (the ages are 23.5 and 1 years) and they are so cute, thank GOD they look like their mother! I spend every night teaching the oldest, as the youngest is just 1 year as of now, about everything I can help him learn. He is far advanced in computers as to understand each keyboard stroke and passwords along with windows applications. He can devide and multiply along with read and write. I hope that he and eventually my other son will be able to take what they have learned and apply that in a better life for themselves in the future. I did not mean to make it sound like I do not appreciate what she has sacrificed and also that I take advantage of her or that she spends money wildly. WE can't afford any of those. I am far from being the perfect husband and I get better each day by listening to her and the children. You have to keep in mind that she has left her country of Thialand and given everything up she had to move here to America and start fresh with only me as a source of stability. Not many people in the world would do that. I appreciate what sacrafise she has made and feel I need to be more understanding than most people in that fact.
There is nothing more rewarding then coming home and seeing the faces of your children lite up with such joy just because you are there! That is what life is all about for me.
