How to back up drivers?

I will be reinstalling Windows and I want to backup the drivers. Can I just copy the Windows/System32/Drivers folder? Will I be able to install the drivers just using the .sys files that are in there by directing Device Manager to that copied folder?

I know there are programs like DriverMax that do this job, but the computer is running very badly, not sure if I can install and run any programs.

Could you not uninstall some programs to make room, I'm sure everyone has them?

Download from the website. You should get a choice run or save. You can save to a finger etc.

Yes I do have an external hard drive to copy them to. Trying to find out if I need DriverMax or if I can just copy the drivers folder I referenced above. Computer boots to Safe Mode only, not sure if I can install any programs.

Space is not an issue, just the condition of the computer, does not run well.

Just decide on which driver you want. Find out the manufcturer (eg Intel) go to that site and then hit save to. You can use it any time, and as many times as you want.

I'm not able to download anything, web access is shaky. Rather than trying to figure out the type of hardware installed and download using another computer, I'd like to try to get the drivers from the problem computer. Trying to decide if I can just copy the Drivers folder, or do I need to use DriverMax.

Dont use Driver Max. Get a friend to download what you need to a finger, etc.

Once you have all the drivers downloaded, use a DVD to back them onto. I would also download SP1 and 2 to save alot of time with the updates.
