how to install .NET 1.0 on a 64 bit Vista?

Unfortunately I have a tool that uses the .NET 1.0 framework and when I try to install the plain-jane 1.0 framework from MS, it tells me I can't do it.

Has anyone else gotten this to work? How did you do it?
