How to Repair Vista?

My Laptop is a Toshiba P200 satelite it came with a OEM Recory DVD
is one of those DVD that you supose to run automatic and it then Wipe out everything and clean install it acording to Toshiba thats the best way of doing it.

But what if i just want to repair some System file
I have a Corrupt Msdos when i acess it by running "Command" in start/run and Msdos open I can only navigate the drives
by typing Cd c:/ cd... etc

But as soon i try to run something else lets say Type DIR in C:/ it Freezes as soon i press Enter (i see a cursor blinking up and down and dont let me do anything)

I am sure some Msdos files must be corrupted or missing and the solution is to restore those files repair vista.

Do i realy have to Clean install Vista everytime because Toshiba havent included any repair disc only a Full clean installation DVD?

I explorer the DVD
and this is the files found in it:

05718XR.crc
05718XSP.swm
05718XSp2.swm
05718XSP3.swm
05718XSP4.swm
05718XSP5.swm
05718XV1.crc
bootmgr
setenv.ini

Folders Boot:
with subfolder Fonts
bcd
boot.sdi
etfsboot.com

Folder EFI with subfolder Microsoft:
Has another folder with BOOT inside it is Fonts folder and a Bcd file

HDDPREP folder:
has 2 folders Boot and sources
Boot has font folder bcd file , boot.sdi and etfsboot.com
sources has boot.wim file

Sources folder:
boot.wim

TOOL folder:
crtdll.dll
imagex.exe
vRecoFastCRC.exe
XcludeCRC.ini
zlibwapi.dll

Is there anything there that has a hidden recovery partition that can help repair MSDOS without having to format the PC

Well with what you have, you can't do that without reverting to factory default settings.

If you can borrow a disk from a friend, then you can load that up and repair.

By factory default I mean the exact condition the computer was when you first turned it on. Bloatware and default settings and nothing of yours on it.

As for a Vista disk, you may be able to get a copy from Microsoft.

Though I also recommend trying Airbot's suggestions.

I agree that System Restore could do it.

It can also be done by using the recovery partition ( if you have one it's about 10Gb and at the end of your hard disk ) boot to dos via recovery disk or installed recovery console change to drive letter of recovery partition cd tools then
imagex /apply <pathname to image file in my case e:\dell\image\factory.wim> 1 ( if there's more than one image in the wim file this switch will use the first ) C:\ ( destination drive or partition ). I haven't used this because I want the hard disk formatted first and, even thought format.com is on the recovery disk I am not sure imagex uses it.
