Welcome !
I'm new here and I have a problem.
I have Vista x64 and HP inkjet 1100 printer.
Now I'm looking for someone who nows wchich driver I should use with my printer. In vista there is no support for it and HP too. I used driver from hp 1000 but there is a lot of problems about printing on both sides of paper. First side is Ok but second is rotate about 180 degrees up-down.

I am new to Vista at home where we use an HP 1100d printer. I am currently trying a driver for the HP Officejet Pro K550, a similar printer which is Vista compatable. Do not know for sure yet how well it works.

April 27 update: Using the HP Office Jet Pro K550 driver does not seem to have any problems with double sided printing. The back page comes out right-side up.
(The K550 is somewhat similar to the 1100. both have seperate ink cartritdges, print heads, and can double side {it is an option on the 550})

Sargos,
please try this step sometimes it works

1. Click on start and type Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and hit Enter.
2. Click on the + sign left to the device.
3. Right click on the device name and select Update Driver.
4. Select the option called “Browse my computer for driver software”.
1. Select the option “Let me pick a driver from the list”.
2. Select the compatible driver from the list and click “Next”.
OR (If it doesn’t work)
1. Click on browse and navigate the location to “C:\windows\winsxs”.
2. Click on next.
5. Wait for the installation to complete.
6. Restart the computer to take effect the changes.

Dear Nick if you are still there. This a magic piece of work and lateral thought, its not even listed as Vista compatible but NT4.0. Well done. I will try it with Win 7 as well and report when I've done. Wonder if K550 drivers will work on my OS 10.6.X Mac.... same problem.

Since the 1100 is not supported in Vista, I wonder if there is a way to operate it in XP compatability mode.

The K550 works with Win7 (I use the HP 1100 on a LAN with a fixed IP Address after all the Windows DHCP nonsense whenever things get changed around after a router shutdown or disconnect (Windows Printer driver software can't track new DHCP address like a PC can BTW). Also makes it easy to find when Windows says it can't. The Driver was already in the Windows Installation when I looked, didn't have to have downloaded it even. Tested Duplex and two tray operation. No need to make it hard :-). Do tell if the XP work around works. B

I shouldn't have made a reply. Got all mixed up with the original post, another person jumping in, and not paying attention to the age of the thread. Missed that Nick was looking for a different driver than the one for the 1100. Sorry about that. :o

No problem. You were kind of right. This is for anyone else with the problem. What was wanted was a Vista or Windows driver for the HP Business Inkjet 1100dtn

But HP had typically abandoned HP1100 users in their never ending effort to get people to buy from another vendor next time, along with the very expesnive large capacity ink cartridges that cleverly expire before you finish or even use them.

What Nick cleverly did was to work out which HP Printer supported by Vista and Win7 had the same networking plus Duplex printing plus dual paper tray feature set and try that - it just worked. It's still an HP1100 and I found you can even correct the name in Properties.

Cool!

I'm lucky with my HP printer. When it tells me that a cartridge has expired, I tell it to print anyhow and it works. Not everyone is so fortunate.
