Solved HP Lap Top and no OS disk

My HP DV 6700 of course came with Vista Home Premium installed. Is there any way I can get either a disk of the OS or the ability to relplace Vista with either XP or 7?

you can upgrade it to 32 bit ultimate and than upgrade to 32bit 7 ultimate or just upgrade to 32bit seven home premium,

as far as a os disc you would have to talk to HP

If you still have your recovery partition, then you can create a set of recovery discs that will allow you to do a factory restore to your default Vista like it was the day you first turned it on. The HP link below can help show you how to if needed.

If you wanted to replace your Vista with XP or Windows 7, then you would just need to format only the partition the Vista is on (not the recovery partition unless you created a set of recovery discs first) and install XP or Windows 7 on it.

You will need to purchase Windows 7 or XP of course to get a installation disc for them though. Since you have a 32-bit Vista Home Premium, you can buy a 32-bit upgrade Windows 7 instead of a full version to save some money.
