Hi,

See if this helps,

boot to system recovery options ( use the recovery cd from your manufacturer if it has those options ), this time , select Command Prompt.

At the prompt , ( it looks like this > ) Type the following ( assuming Vista is your C drive): press enter after each command

C:

CD Boot

Bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

These instructions better explained here :

Hope it helps

Hi,

The bootsect.exe was not included in the Recovery environment M$ provided to Neosmart to distribute.

So , if the automatic startup repair doesn't work ( it usually does), it is tricky, unless you have the proper M$ dvd and run the recovery environment off that.

Can you borrow a proper 32 bit install dvd from someone ( it doesn't matter if it says it is a different Edition - Premium, business, ultimate - the dvd's are all the same - you just need the same bit version , i.e. 32bit ).

You could take a look at this thread

Hope it helps

Hi Chikara,

The install dvd has the files on it that are needed for the more advanced repair attempts.

I can't guarantee it will work , but it is better to have the dvd.

Also, if the repair doesn't work, and you need to reinstall - you may need a dvd to do that as the restore function on your machine doesn't seem to be working.

Better to borrow one , if you can.
