I tried to put a new theme and is messed up my computer

Please i need your help!

i wanted to change the theme of my vista. and i was watching a youtube video
YouTube - How To Enable Custom Themes In Windows Vista (+ SP1)

and he said that i really dont have to download that Vistaglazz or w.e it was, and that i could enable custome themes manually if i just download hacked uxtheme.dll and replace it with the one thats already in system 32.

and now i keep getting error messages when i try to open up my computer and it says:

C:\Windows\system32\Uxtheme.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administration or the software vendor for support."

"This application has failed to start because of Uxtheme.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."


So i was reading a couple of sites and it said that i have to go to Safe mode command prompt, and try to rename it, but i dont know how to.

THEN there was a site that said to run SFC/scannow which i did then it said this:

"Verification 100%complete. Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of the problem.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C;\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS AND WHAT TO DO
and i dont have the windows vista cd because i think the place where i bought it from preinstalled it, it had vista already when i got it sooo i have no idea how to get rid of this problem.

PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP!!

Looks like you downloaded a corrupt registry file.
Just pop in your Vista disk and do a repair.

And in the future, just use VistaGlazz. Its really easy, and I use it myself.

hey yeah thanks, for somereason i did the sfc again, and restarted my computer and it got it working again. kinda scared of changing my theme lol

but you say vistaglazz is a good software? it doesnt change any of those files on my system32 does it?

It does, but as I said, I use it so do many others. It just replaces a file with the patched one. If it doesn't work, do the sfc again.

ok i'll give it a try, something wierd happend tho, when i did the sfc, it said that i couldnt fix some of the problem, then i just restared my computer and now it works.. do you think i got lucky?

I don't know. It may just have needed the restart. Though I think you could have fixed it with the repair.

Hello,
I used to use VistaGlazz until it destroyed some of my registry files..(not saying that VistaGlazz is bad).

Now i just use Tuneup utilities 2009. Its great because you can customize many other aspects of windows vista as well as cleaning up your computer.
