I want to install Vista on my computer from 2010, but I get the error "Win cannot copy". Does anyone know (installation via USB)?

I am getting an error that I don't understand. I tried twice, one of which was exendet kernel, but the same error occurred in exendet, and the normal iso gave 15 errors at 5%.

Is a newer version of Windows already installed on the PC? (All new PCs shipped with Windows 7 by 2010, and you posted “My Computer” information that your OS is Windows 11.) If yes, then I doubt that anyone at this forum will be able to help. Another person has been posting here all year about installing Vista on a PC that already has Windows 7 (and XP), but his problem remains unsolved AFAIK.

I would not recommend “extended kernel” at all! That was not a Windows update; it was a hack! Its only advantage was allowing the use of up-to-date browsers as long as the major browsers continued to support Windows 7, but major browsers ended support for 7 and 8.1 a long time ago now. The developer of extended kernel turned his attention to a Chromium fork that supports normal Vista (also XP and 7), Supermium .

If you successfully install normal Vista, Windows Update isn’t going to work anyway. There are hacks for that issue that can be found online, or you could use offline installers for service packs and Platform Update components and simply forget about all the old security updates that have no real value in 2025. But if you want a complete collection of old Vista patches, the simplest solution is to use a custom ISO that includes all the patches. Another member of this forum might give you a link for such an ISO, but if a newer version of Windows is present on the PC, then I don’t think you will be able to install that either. 😕

If you do have a newer version of Windows installed that you are not willing to part with, then you might want to try running Vista in a virtual machine (VM) on the same PC. I believe that should work.

My aim was to see the old nostalgic Win Aero, I was going to install it on my old computer, my new computer in the bios, my computer had a DVD burner, I installed it on my new computer.I bought 2 DVDs from a junk dealer and burned them to Vista ISO and my problem was solved. This was the most effective solution. Thanks for writing.
