IDE controller can't find driver

In Device Manager I have a warning triangle in Storage Controllers over
"AWC9H7IA IDE controller"
Windows cannot find the driver online, my searches have found nothing either. Curiously since I have being trying to resolve this issue, when I clicked
"Scan for Hardware Changes"
The AWC.... part changed to something similar but certainly not the same. I system restored after that and it returned to the original numbering but still does not work.
I have no idea what an IDE controller is, the only thing I can say is that my built in SD card reader is not being recognised by my Computer also.
I have a HP G60 lap top, 3gb Ram Vista SP2.
I have made no radical changes for some time.

Yes the cd player is fine. Strangely my SD card reader is now working, the only change being I disabled the IDE controller that was not working anyway, and when I re enabled it, it still doesn't work, but the card reader does.
