IE has stopped working

Just today, I started getting notification in a pop up box:

IE has stop working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Window will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

And this is followed by actual closing of the current program on the screen. This does not pop up on all sites...just seemingly on selected ones including on line banking, live mail and yahoo mail... to name a few. (luckily Vista Forum site is not affected)

I ran MSE twice and came up clean. No malwares. The only software I installed prior to onset of this problem was Flash player 10..which I have since deleted to no avail.

Help!!!

What happened?

Welcome
Try going back with a System Restore. If that does not resolve the problem, the most expedient solution would be to try another Browser, Chrome or Firefox would be my choice. If they work, then you know that it is a problem specific to IE and I would try these solutions:
Troubleshooting Internet Explorer Issues - Windows 7 Forums
This solution has fixed many IE problems

But, you can always stay with one of the Broswers, mentioned, above.

The problem occurred with both 32 and 64 bit IE browsers. I did not try no-add on browser.

Anyway, I remembered having deleted Java(TM) Plug-In SSV Helper add on file(one of those nothing-to-do days but fool around with PC) which I tracked down at C:\Program Files(86) Java\jre6\bin. Here, I deleted the bin file.

When the problem started, I was thinking of this file deletion so I System Restored to 2 days back...but to no avail even when I noticed the deleted file bin was restored.

So just now, at a hunch I removed and re-installed Java...and the problem is resolved.

Correction:

The problem persists with both 32 and 64 bit browsers...but NOT with No add-on browser.

So now I have a tough job of tracking down which of my current multiple add-ons is/are responsible.

I would be tempted to just use exclusively the add-on free browser 'cept it is noticeably slower. Anyone with an easier way/system of winnowing out the add-ons?

How many add ons does IE even have ? I would just disable all, then one by one enable til I found the culprit, i don't use IE myself, cept for MS updates, so, I not too up to date on how many you are looking at. Take your time and eliminate is the only way i know, by the way, did you try Rich's troubleshooting link he posted ?
