When links in Mail and else where are clicked some will not open and report "Not Responding" unless you first open IE x64. How can I make 64 the default instead of 32?

I'm having a similar problem with Windows Mail freezing when I open it with IE8 - RC1 -- and my system is 64 bit. I can open it and access links with FireFox, but not the IE8. Any suggestions out there?
