incorrect password

I did not change my password, but cannot log in, I am getting a message username or password incorrect.
How do I handle and fix this?

This works for Vista & Win 7.

Thanks for the response. Looks like these are instructions for user password, my issue is with the administrator password. Do you have any ideas for that?

Administrator account is a user account.

Thanks for the quick response. It looks like downloading and putting something on a disk is my only option, as I cannot get into the system restore screen?
I tried to burn the disk but got errors. Also, If i can get it burned, how do I get it to boot up in the computer.
Any additional help is appreciated. I am kind of a novice at this.
