Ink cartridges

Hi
This may not be th place to post this thread but I don't know who else to ask.
I am currently buying a new printer and was buying some ink cartridges for it. I was wondering how the same ink cartridges can have different levels of ink in them when advertised on the internet. The ones with more seem to be cheaper as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Mfg can put as much ink in the cartridge as they want. When you buy a new printer that free cartridge is usually onlfy half full, read the fine print.

Hi
I didn't know that but I was more interested in the ink cartridges when bought new because the epson manufactured ink cartridges contain 9ml of ink which cost about £12. Other compatible ink contains 15ml for about £5. How can there be more ink for less money and is this ink worse?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Its called free enterprise, ink is ink. If you were not smart enough to figure this out, the scammers make a lot of money at the expense of the honest companies.

You quote in pounds, you must be in England, the economy is as bad there as it is in the USA, keep your eyes open, this will happen more and more. Thats not the bad news, which is its everywhere not just printer ink.

Hello sooty1892,
Another reason is that the manufacturer of the printer will tell you to only use their own brand ink cartridges, (at a premium price), because theirs is best.
But third party cartridges will do the job just as well.

Just one last point, since Stoney mentioned that the Printer mfg say that you must use their cartridg, in the USA (do not know about England) they say that if you do not use their cartridge it voids the warranty. In the USA this was found to be illegal. They are allowed to threaten, but not act on it. Just a word to the wise.

Cheap ink is fine if you use your printer alot.
If you do not (like me once in a while)
The ink willturn to crap.
I went though it. Put in cheap used it a few times.
Then when I went to use it a month later dried up or worse Blobed.
Went out and bought the HP ones large size never had trouble even if I use it once
a month.
Just wanted to share that so you can make your mind up.

Me to

I have a HP and a Lexmark printer. Bought cheap ink and got bad results.
Replaced them with factory cartridges now they work as expected.

Remember the old saying, you only get what you pay for. Buy cheap get cheap, buy good get good.

Can't go wrong with the factory. Cheaper in the long run.
