installation and bootmgr issues

So, I posted here a few days ago to get help with a Bootmgr is missing error. I had also discovered that when I pop in the recovery disk, it cannot detect an OS despite Vista used to be on the comp. I found out the only way to fix it is to reinstall.windows Vista.


Today I obtained the Windows Vista installation disk, popped it into my PC and booted from the cd drive. It tried reading the cd before giving me another bootmgr is missing error. I really need help here, I have been unable to use my computer in weeks and am getting desperate for help.

Actually a bit of a chabge. When it asked to load drivers it said there was something wrong and to restart.. same old story after reset though

1.Gateway
2.It's a gateway fx7020
3.3years but still pretty good specs
4. No, But I go have a messed up video card that led to this..NVIDIA 8800gt
5.Microsoft home Security I believe

More info on the problem:

I had a messed up video card and after countless attempts to get it working fine, I finally decided to see if a system restore would do the trick.

Bad luck hit me and my comp crashed during the system restore and when I turned it back on, I got the bootmgr is missing error.

I downloaded the recover Cd and unfortunately the system recovery screen could not detect an OS so I figured my Vista was corrupt and the only way to fix would be by getting the install disk, which I did.

However, the Install disk will not boot even when I boot from CD and I just get the bootmgr is missing screen. But the recovery disk does load.

Hope that clarifyss and I really hope I can get some help

Do you have a family member or a friend close by that you can use there system to make some disks on. If so do the following.

Without having your computer right in front of me it is hard for me or anyone on the forum to diagnose, This is why we ask so many questions, so please tell me if you are able to log onto your system desktop at all or can you get into safe mode.

You might need to change the way you computer boots so read this and see if it will help you boot from your disk.

I cannot even access my OS so those steps sadly will not work.

However, I have the repair disk and a flash drive really I hope I can get on my computer.. so fustrating but i appreciate the help.
