installing ultimate 64 on comp with vista home premium??

so i just bought windows vista ultimate for my first computer upgrading task and i all ready have windows home premium on my desktop, whats going to happen when i boot it?? sorry if this is a dumb question but kinda new to this... i guess my main concern would be will i lose all my mediathat is currently on the computer?? thx-

Does your desktop have Vista Home Premium x64 on it? If Yes, then you should be able to perform an upgrade install of Vista Ultimate x64.

If No, then you will need to backup all pertinent data (Document, Music, etc.) to a different hard disk or DVD, then perform a clean install of Vista Ultimate x64. You cannot "upgrade" from a 32-Bit OS to a 64-Bit OS.
