Installs fail at C:\programdata\xxxprogram

Hi

on my Vista home premium SP2 fully updated PC when I try to install any program that writes to the Programdata folder the install fails because it cannot write to the required folder, in the latest incidence the folder was ProgramData\HP\DiditalImaging\Data\Destination\xxxx.dll. the error message is "Make sure you have access to that folder".

I have tried "take Ownership" but that did not work, this PC has only one user and this is a fairly recent problem, it started probably about a year ago, and it is driving me NUTS.

I would appreciate any input and help.

Thanks

Daniel

Make sure that SYSTEM and Administrators has full access to the ProgramData folder folder. Ownership should be SYSTEM or administrators and not a personal ID. My ProgramData folder is owned by administrators. Also On mine CREATOR OWNER also has full access.

Under the security tab where you would take ownership.
