I have had a lot of problems with my wireless 5100 on my ASUS laptop. I have downloaded all the most recent drivers and just recently i started get lag spikes during games almost every 60 seconds, making them very hard to play. I also tried the WLAN Optimizer. any help would be appreciated

Wireless is not good for games because its jumpy regardless off the signal strength and interference through objects you cant really stop this other getting a LAN connection strate to the router.

In this case, it's caused by the WLAN Autoconfig service scanning for networks every 60 seconds. Can't disable it as you lose network selection capability (and in my case, connectivity). The solution to eliminate the lag spikes is to go into the adapter properties, and under the Advanced tab and Wireless Mode subheading, set it to 802.11b/g. The default is a/b/g, and I'm guessing the lag spike is from Windows switching the adapter back and forth between b/g and a mode (2.4 vs 5.x GHz) very quickly to scan. It resolved things for me.

Hate to revive old topics, but it'll make someone's day when they google it.
