Are you saying that Vista is running now?
Yes, but i had to do a repair upgrade since windows does not work properlly, it does not use the full potential of the new CPU and task manager still reported a single core CPU and 2GB of RAM, the repair upgrade solved that, now i need to install all the updates and the Extended Kernel, i will also try again with 4GB just in case.

P.D. The computer booted and the bios correctly reported the 4GB of RAM, but vista upon starting to boot failed, the boot animation just look corrputed and never started loading, and if i tried booting an install disk it gave me a blue screen with the error: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, i looked up and it means a problem with RAM

one user of this laptop reported running it with 4GB of RAM, but it was with a single 4GB stick, and another user reported 5GB and submited it to CPU-Z database, it seems that the RAM slots have some sort of preference, since my laptop could not boot windows with 3GB having the 1GB stick in the top, however switching places worked, i suspect that the bottom slot only supports up to 1GB of RAM but the top one, 4GB is somehow supported, making the maximum amount ever tried to be, 5GB in this exact configuration

From what I can find, the PFN........... error can be caused by many things, not just RAM. What happens if you use just 2 GB of RAM?
Are you getting the information from the POST? Are you hearing more than one beep during the POST?
Can you get to Safe Mode?

my computer does not beep unless it fails to boot, and no, i couldnt get to safe mode, as i said, the computer boots without a problem with 4GB of RAM but Windows doesnt. i will try again with 4GB today but i think is going to fail again and i will just stay with 3GB, 3GB works flawlessly.

Interesting. This computer has beeped once during the POST every time for 15 years. If it beeped twice, that normally would mean there's a problem with RAM. The manual for this NVIDIA mobo is very specific about the RAM that can be used. This is what I could find for a 5315-2212-

Slots: 2 Type: 667MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SO-DIMM Installed: 1GB (2x512MB) Capacity: 2GB Configuration: 256MB, 512MB, or 1GB SO-DIMMs

for me it beeps if it has very low battery and if it fails to boot, but the second one never happened to me
About the slots, it seems that is supports 2GB and 4GB sticks in the top slot, not officially but it works, a user has this very laptop with 5GB of RAM and me, with 3GB, it just works
The only problem is that it runs a little hotter than before, the cooling system can handle it without a problem but before it was sitting arround 45-50ºC and not it sits arround 60ºC

@Joadix100

saw this old thread from Tom's Hardware Forum & saw this response from a guest user:

CPU-World.com > T7700 vs T9500 comparison

regarding ram upgrade:
Regarding the CPU, according to a youtuber, the T9500 is not compatible with the Acer Arcadia motherboard, however, the chipset does support the T9500 as stated by cpu upgrade https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/GL960_Express.html

Regarding RAM, i did my best to make it work with 4GB, the computer would boot, POST and i could get in the BIOS and see that my 4GB of RAM were detected, but windows didnt like itm it just loaded the initial animation, the bar with microsoft corporation below, and that would bug and look strange, or it BSOD and gave me PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, looking up for that, its a RAM related issue.

I have been trying to give new life to my 5315, I have had it running for 10 years with an SSD and T9500 but because of the 2GB RAM limitation it became pretty much useless in windows 10.
Saw this thread and installed a 4GB stick and a 1GB stick, now have 5GB RAM and makes it a whole new experience.
I can watch 1080p youtube and the windows menu now also much more snappy.
So for anyone searching, I can confirm the V7 4GB V764004GBS module works.
Good for another 10 years! =)

The only thing I need now is a battery, the old one died about 8 years ago and I threw it away. Looking for a replacement, I found two replacement batteries, both would fit the 5315. One 11V and one 14V.
Is there any way to find out which one I need? Because I understand putting the 14V into a model that required a 11V model would damage it. There are no battery marking on the laptop itself...
I have the model that came with a Celeron CPU, believe the M530 model.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks, I got a 11V replacement battery, works perfectly.

I've played around some more with the RAM, somehow it does not support a 2GB stick. Not the top or bottom slot, it's very picky!
5GB really seems the limit for me...

Anyone tried updating the WLAN module? I'm looking for one that can receive 5Ghz band. Seems difficult finding one (with driver support), as most are M2 or half mini PCIe...

Anyone tried updating the WLAN module? I'm looking for one that can receive 5Ghz band. Seems difficult finding one (with driver support), as most are M2 or half mini PCIe...
i am looking foward into changing the WLAN module, however idk what are the requierements for the module, Version of PCI and type of port and support from the chipset and that.

About RAM, it does support 2GB in the bottom slot, i have that configuration, the top one only supports 1GB, but the bottom one supports 2GB, 4GB and i am not aware of anyone trying with an 8GB stick
Look at my System 1 specs and you will see my CPU-Z page with the RAM details included

HUGE FINDINGS
I discovered something that explains everything that happened with my laptop, as it turns out, i have a "False" GL960 chipset
According to this Webpage i have the false GL960, and it explains EVERITHING, from the 3GB RAM "limit" (it posted with 4GB but Windows would give a Blue Screen imediately, Vista and the windows installer (Bootable USB) too) to the "why does my RAM run at 667MHz when the chipset is limited to 533MHz?" and it explains why i was able to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo T7700 (BTW im going to purchase a T9500) without a problem while the GL960 does only support Celeron M's
CPU-Z reports that i have the GL960, so does HWinfo64, however HWinfo reports that it supports DDR2 667 and FSB of 800, which is not supported by the GL960, the GM965 is the chipset that supports all of these things.
in conclussion, i have a GL960, with the caracteristics of a GM965 but with some limitations.
