Internet Problem

Thank you for the reference. Much appreciated. I followed the instructions there and found that if I went into the Supermium settings, I could ban the pop-up URL under notifications and that got rid of the pop-ups.
I’m glad you were able to stop the pop-ups. An XP user at MSFN posted about a similar issue in their “Supermium” thread yesterday (January 8, 2026). He had just installed Supermium version 138.0.7204.298 and got a fishy pop-up purporting to be from Windows Defender on the same day. He thinks Microsoft is to blame: “One reason I run only obsolete systems is to get away from the Microsoft nanny state. Its continued presence would be a deal-breaker as far as daily use [of Supermium] is concerned.” 🤣 That XP diehard needs a nanny, but I doubt that he will find one at MSFN (unless maybe Imacri would like to go to his rescue). If you have a browser comparable to what most people on earth are using now, then don’t be surprised if you encounter modern threats.

I want to emphasize that Supermium should only be downloaded from official sources: Either GitHub or Supermium Web Browser. Unscrupulous persons can easily craft an installer that contains malware, and the developer doesn’t have the legal clout of Google, Microsoft or even pitiful Mozilla, so don’t just search for “Supermium” and grab the first download you find!
