I'm like you, 3 thinkpads 1 Vista 1 Linux Mint and one windows 10 fully activated but never used.
I mainly use Vista Home Premium
I have to say I'm liking Linux Mint a lot

I guess Microsoft is short on money unless they're going to let people with Win 10 to
upgrade for free. I mean, Win 10 is roughly 6 years old. Still using Vista Home Premium and
have no overwhelming urge to upgrade until this old system finally stops working.

Yes, apparently upgrades from win10 are free. It has been reported that the current win11 media also accepts win7 keys.

The issue seems to be the requirements. Ryzen2 and newer or intel 8th gen and newer. Plus Tpm2

I would definitely glad if MS is taking down the processor and TPM requirement. Also Secure Boot.
