IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop Error

Hi,

I've had my computer since November this year. In January I had the same problem, but it went away when I installed new graphics drivers. Now the problem is back. I do have a lot of software installed on here, but nothing that was not installed before the stop errors. So I have run Memtest86+ off my GParted CD for 1.5 hours, came up with no errors. I used CCcleaner to fix some broken .DDL's, and that was about 5 minutes ago, so I will see how that works out. Here is my build, thank you to all who took the time to read this.

nVidia nForce 610i/GeForce 7050 Chipset Mobo
Q6600, was OC to 2.8GHz at first stop error restored it to 2.4.
4GB 667MHz Crosshair RAM
500GB Hitatchi HDD
GeForce 9500GT
Ultra 650W LSP

I did recently install a new CPU FHS, but that keeps the CPU cooler - can't see why that would cause the issue. Its a Xiggy 12cm Rifle Cooler.

Hi Broken,

Welcome to the Forum.

You could check that all Hardware is sitting properly you might have disturbed something when you put the cooler in.

Check temps anyway it is possible that the new cooler is affecting something else, Maybe go back to the old cooler for a while.

Check all drivers.

Means you have a bad/buggy driver

I shudder at the thought of registry "cleaners" being used to repair "broken .DDLs" (DLLs too), but even that is unlikely to be the cause of the BSoDs because virtually all of them have a kernel-mode cause and DLLs mostly live in user-mode :)

In your \Windows\Minidump folder, there may be *.dmp files which contain more info about the crashes. If you zip up a few of the latest and upload them here, a few of the usual suspects will take a look.

Thanks for the quick responses.
/Windows/Minidump is empty.
Downloading new Graphix Drivers now. Will see if this helps.
No more bluescreens since using CCCleaner to "Fix" broken DLLs.
The old cooler lets my CPU get over 80ºC - not going back there. And it is very likely that I bumped something when I installed my new cooler because I had to take my mobo out, but the 24-pin power connector is stuck in. So I worked on the case, most likely messed up a logic gate somewhere. But all the other hardware is secure, I checked.

It might not be configured to generate a dump upon BSoD.

If you run sysdm.cpl, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery, check that "write debugging information" is set to "small memory dump". Also, you need a pagefile on the boot partition (where \Windows lives) that's at least 0.5GB to 1.0GB in size, otherwise it can't generate any dumps.

Pagefile's on a different partition. Now that you reminded me will look up why Vista lags so bad after boot.

ps- using a registry cleaner is not recommended- unless you know the function of the entries the cleaner wants to "clean". Registry cleaners are not able to distinguish between unwanted and legitimate entries, and more often then not, result in Windows/program corruption ultimately requiring a reinstall of Windows as most Users just assume the program will not clean critical dynamic library links that Windows needs, and are then shocked at BSOD and Windows/programs that no longer function properly. Use at your own risk. There are many, many threads on this forum regarding Users who messed up Vista trying to "improve" performance with registry cleaners.

Quite horribly. Got 5 stop errors in 2 days, now I can't run stable for 1 hour on that system. Ran Hitachi DFT, found corrupted sectors, re-formatting the entire drive now.

Luckily my HDD is under warranty until September of 2011.
