iTunes install problem

My PC locks up when trying to install iTUnes at the point where it is saying to me

"Registering iTunes automation server"

Ive done everything that the iTunes help section has suggested still no luck.

Im using Vista 64 bit.

Are you absolutely sure you are installing the 64 bit version of iTunes and not the 32 bit version?

The 64 bit version can be downloaded from iTunes 9.1.1 for Windows (64 bit) (I admit it's not easy to find).

Got there in the end appears you have to have SP2 loaded.
