Solved Java 7-6

The Java download is for Version 7 Update 6 (which I haven't updated to yet), but when I verify my Java version it says I have the "recommended Java installed (Version 7 Update 5)." Why is it saying 7-5 is the recommended version when 7-6 is the new download? A glitch here or what?

(Of course, I wasn't notified of the new update because the Java update notification hasn't worked in forever.)

Thanks.

Hello VFN and welcome to the forums

I don't know why this would happen. Perhaps it takes a while to come through on the app, the 7u6 update was done 8 days ago so it's still fairly new. Or maybe they have another reason not to recommend 7u6 through the verifier - bugs etc.

Download and install 7u6 from the website :)

Tom

Thanks. I will update.

Anyone know of a forum for Java? There's a good one for Adobe Flash but I can't seem to find one for Java.

Thanks again.

Regarding not being notified for an update I wonder about the following:

The Java control panel gotten to through my control panel classic view is for 64. I know this because I haven't updated 64 Java so the "about" in the panel says I'm using 7-5. I also know it's for 64 because when I uninstalled Java for 64 a while ago and and still had Java for 32 installed I had no Java control panel in my control panel classic view. As such, is it possible that I'm not being notified because I'm using 32 IE and my 32 Java isn't directing things, has no control over the notification process?

Thanks.
