Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Sorry Sean
The manager is installed however since I am using SPDIF the options such as speaker choice are not available and only appear if a device is pluged in. I do have digital output and line in tabs though which are all I need. All I had to do was go into sound in control panel and set DTS and frequency options.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi there
Ive been reading for a while on different sound issues but still cant resolve mine. My problem is similar to the first guy in this thread. I have a "quadraphonic" speakers setup but can only hear the front left/right. I have the latest realtek drivers. I have a brand new vista ultimate installation. My rear speakers ARE plugged in the "Rear speaker out". Also, its set to quadraphonic configuration and speakers are checked. If i check Speaker Fill, I do hear sound from my rear speakers but its very very very poor with no bass. Btw, the sound and everythings fine if I do the auto surround sound test thing. It just wont work in windows media player, games, etc
I dunno what to do anymore =/
Thanks

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Attached is a picture of the R1.85 driver installed. You should see this after the install on your Vista box. To see this:

Go to Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Manage Audio Devices

Click on Speakers (or whichever one appears enabled and in-use). This should take you to the speakers property screen. Hit Properties (button) and click on the Driver tab.

Hi Maccaro,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Did you install the drivers twice?

You may need to adjust the settings in the Camtasia Screen Capture and other programs again to.

nah im fairly sure i only installed it once but if i did install it twice how would i go about fixing it?

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Maccaro,

That's the thing. You will need to install it twice. Once to remove the old audio driver, then twice to install the new one. You will need to restart the computer between each install. Check in Device Manager to make sure that you have the version 6.0.1.5548 listed under the Driver tab for the audio device.

I just wanted to let you know Shawn that I have installed this latest driver three times now and each time it has installed everything on the first run, and running it a second time does nothing. This may be just a coincidence because the only driver existing was the Vista default driver but I distinctly remember the 2nd install being absent from the install process on this driver.

I will verify this later...

I have now confirmed that the latest 1.85 sound driver from Realtek does NOT require a second run of the install. One it once and you should be done. This was verified on my system while using the default sound driver that comes with Vista. I have NOT tried this with a newer driver pre-existing on my machine but I have no reason to believe it would be any different.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi

I have a wierd problem, because I dont have Realtek HD Audio Manager in Control Panel (Classic View) on my Home Premium 32bit.
Its Realtek ALC862.

Recently I installed the latest R1.85 drivers and still nothing.
The Device Manager shows proper version number 6.0.1.5548 and it is "Realtek High Definition Audio".
And I did install drivers twice as mentioned on first page...

Another strange is that I have a process running: RtHDVCpl.exe that should be some kind of control panel but when I doubleclick on the file in /Windows folder its just do nothing...

How can I get this Manager in Control Panel?

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hello Guys!

I just bought a new PC and now I am using Vista x64 Ultimate.

I downloaded the newest Realtek HD Audio Driver for my ALC883 Codec but I am dissapointed with it.

Autodetection of my front panel devices doesn't work :(

I've checked connections on MB many times...

My case's panel is an AC 97 type, but Realtek ALC883 should work with it without problems. The headphones and microphone work good but when I connect them any popup will appear, the speakers don't stop playing... and it's really piddling me off.

Looks like the newest Realtek Drivers hasn't got support for AC 97 Audio Panel.

Or maybe someone got any issue?

Sorry for my English, it used to be good but I havn't used it for a long time :P

EDIT

Oh and one more thing.

Is there any way to have a good quality 5.1 music sound from apps like Winamp etc on this Realtec Audio Codec?

When I enable the speaker fill option - rear speakers play, although I hear something like echo and it sound crappy. My old AC 97 was a way better than this :/

Hey cybernetic87, welcome to Vista x64 forums :)

I have the same problem(s) like you, but i solved it for now with speaker fill and bass management. As for front panel i haven't tried it yet, but i saw an option in configuration where you can set whether you want your speakers keep playing when you insert headphones or not....search for it.

I also heard that 5.1 problem in vista is generic and that it'll be fixed in SP1.

There is no such option to on newest drivers :( (R1.85)

5.1 speakers with speaker fill doesn't play well. Rear speakers have some like delay in this mode, also they play quiet even when I boost their level to +30dB :(

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I don't know what to say.... Speaker fill works ok here and i am aware that it's not the full 5.1 sound but still at least all speakers play. Dunno why your rear ones don't play well and have delay.... which speakers do you have? Where did you connect them? Does the 5.1 test go through all your speakers?

Accid, you have to run installation twice in order to get realtek hd audio manager in control panel, that's why the first run it deletes drives but it's stupid enough to install them. And the second time (after you reboot your machine) you have to run it again to actually install those realtek drivers with that manager.

Hope it helps.

5.1 test is ok, games are ok... speaker fill and WMP, Winamp etc. NO :(
Speakers are Genius 5.1 5005 or something. Connected property
I guess, just like the colors Green - Front, Black - Rear, Orange - Sub/Center

Second problem:
Front panel plays but no detection of devices AT ALL.
When I connect headphones at the front panel I only hear a BOOM in my speakers and they'll keep playing as they were. Same with microphone - no autodetection.

New driver doesn't have options like these posted above - nothing with autodetections/panel etc....

Hi Accid,

I noticed that the the Realtek ALC862 model is not included in the Vista WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) supporting list in the README notes for the Realtek HD Audio driver. That may be why you do not have the HD Manager in the Control Panel, but show having the current driver version in Device Manager.
