LCD Monitors

Hi folks,

I'm posting this here as its just meant as a topic in general, not something I require help with, but my Monitor is the first LCD Display that I have had, I have however always had Belinea Monitors, but this display of mine has one (I'm lucky I know) dead pixel, a red one, not in the center of the screen but to the left and about a quarter way up.

But is it usual for all LCD's to have them? I love the Monitor I have but come the time for a new one I worry about this as its not nice if you have these things, I know it could have been alot worse, and I am not moaning, just wondering if its a common thing for LCD's

I tried to get rid of it a couple of times, but in the end left it as nothing worked, I think I may have another, but that seems to come and go, and that little bugger is near the middle lol

But as I say I can live with it, I rang Belinea and told them about it, but they said that as its only one, they cannot do anything, if it was 7 or more then yes they could replace it, but its not a good thing and for people that have alot I can imagine their frustrations.

Before I had this Belinea, I did temporarily have a different make and that had loads and was replaced twice as the second one was worse still

Then I got the Belinea and asides from one, its ok, but I hope that others do not break out :D

If you read reviews on LCDs you'll almost always see reviewers mentioning dead pixels - so much so in fact that it is pretty commonplace.

I was lucky my dual Acers have all clean pixels...

Yeah, dead pixels are pretty common with LCD. Different manufacturers have different 'dead pixel policies'. 7 or more is on the high and stingy side

Luckily my Dell has none either, because I zero in on them and can't look away. I had two on a LCD projector I was using and it nearly drove me mad. Over 100inches of real estate and I zero in on a tiny blue dot

dunno if you've tried it, but it is possible to remove them. A friend of mine used a program that made the monitor change colour or flick on & off real fast.

No dis-respect to you, but my situation being as it is money wise, I dare not try anything like that incase I screw my Monitor, maybe it would'nt do any harm to it, but I really am too weary to try anything like that :D

I appreciate the advice though, and thank you.

I mean at first I could not take my eyes off it either, and it seriously got to me, but over time I have kind of got used to it, but I must admit that my eyes have this knack of staring at it from time to time, still when a new Monitor is required I guess I will have to take pot luck and pray I get one that does'nt have any lol :D

My Samsung 20'' came with a dead pixel in the top left corner....... i cant notice it but if i had 6 dead pixels & they refused to replace it i would be spitting flames , dead pixels are not too bad depending on their position, the last thing you want is a bunch of them in the center of the panel!!! :eek:

but it is a pretty common occurrence im afraid J&H....

I must have been lucky because I'm using my 3rd LCD monitor and never had any dead pixel problems on any of them.

I can't remember the name of the first one but I then had a DigiMate 17" TFT LCD Monitor which I gave to my husband when I got my 17" Hanns.G monitor with this Vista computer. All of them have been fine with everything working as it should must say though I love the widescreen as opposed to the normal square :D

I'll go take a look at that and let you know the results, at least its not something that does the whole screen, you just position it over the pixel at fault......thanks again :D

I've never had a dead pixel in the 3 LCD monitors I've had, but unfortunately I have one right at the top centre of my 32" TV.

The method I used to remove it was massage it with a slightly damp cloth and just pressed it gently with my thumb and massage it gently, was probably more of a stuck pixel, but it removed it for a couple of months and then came back, but haven't been bothered trying to remove it again, lol.
