login error, screensaver can't run on login screen, Direct X 9.0 not recognized

Hi, I just discovered a problem with vista. I recently installed an outstanding software known as TuneUp Utilities 2009, I then used it to customize my computer login screen, I made a modification such that on startup or when no one is logged (i.e. when the login screen is displayed), in case there has been no activity for 10 minutes, vista's built in bubble screensaver begins to run. Unfortunately, when I tested this modification out, I noticed a screensaver error stating that "direct3d 9.0 is required to run this screensaver and can't be found on your computer", so I logged in and tried running the screensaver again and it worked perfectly.
Why is it not working on the login screen but it works on the desktop screen? How do I confirm the version of direct x I have installed, because I recently made an update on my direct x, I tried updating it to 10.XXX and the same problem is still occurring. :( Please reply asap.

Still the same situattion, I ran dxdiag and I confirmed that I had installed directx 10 but for some reason, it still isn't recognizing it from the log on screen, but it recognizes it 100% from the desktop screen. Why is this happening, is this another error with vista?

Cant say for sure, you could try updating your graphics card and monitor drivers then try again.

What display type are you using eg, crt, lcd etc ? I use an LCD display and have never used a screensaver as they are not needed. All a screensaver does is prevent burn in which on an LCD is not an issue. While its running its using the cpu and ram keeping your computer constantly going and generating heat and wasting energy.

I know it looks pretty :) but my advice is to not use one.

The name of my monitor in my computer properties, from the personalization control panel, is indicated as generic pnp monitor on NVIDIA Geforce 9300M GS. It doesn't clearly state that it is a liquid crystal display. HOW EXACTLY DO U DISTINGUISH BETWEEN AN LCD and A CRT, is an example of crt the old tvs people used to have, where the display is behind a thick concave lens while lcd is the new ones we have, where the display is behind a flat thin layer of....something  reply asap

Heres an overview of LCD's and CRT : CLICK ME

Basically the quickest way to know is just by looking at how big its depth is. Your using a generic monitor driver, you should really download and install the one for your monitor. While i dont think it will solve the screensaver at logon issue it will give you better performance etc if you install the proper driver.

EDIT: just noticed from your graphics card your using a Laptop. You can update all your drivers at the manafucturers site.

please how did you find out from the name of my graphics card? That will be useful to me in getting a more efficient graphics card plus a much better video card. From your opinion, what is the BEST graphics card and the BEST video card for a HP Pavilion dv3510nr Entertainment Notebook PC? By the way, it is 13" laptop and that is the name I just gave you above.

I noticed you had a laptop as 9300M. The M stands for mobile. Graphics card and video card = the same thing. People use the different ways of describing the same thing depending on whats being discussed eg a computer game or video editing

With a Notebook you may be able to update the RAM inside but normally the best you can do is keep your drivers and software up to date, defrag etc as you cant replace the components inside. You can update your drivers from HP United States - Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers and more

Here is actually the webpage made for my particular product,
HP Pavilion dv3510nr Entertainment Notebook PC
and I have installed the latest drivers from there.

BUT, there is one other program that I bought which I use in driver updating, it is called driver detective 6.XXX.XXX When I ran a scan for outdated drivers, it indicated that I have 12 out of date drivers, so, I downloaded one of the latest drivers through it and what it gave me was an INF file and some other driver files, no .exe file. SO, i tried installing that driver by right clicking the .inf file and selecting install, when I did that, it gave me an error message stating that the inf file does not support that method of installing.
How do I install such drivers? Probably one of those updates will resolve this problem. Please reply asap

By the way, don't even bother buying this STUPID Driver detective software, it was my only alternative to Uniblue's driver scanner software because of VISTAS stupid compatibility issues. WHy I recommend Uniblue's driver scanner is b/c it indicates the risk of installing the updated drivers, an example of this risk is your computer will not be able to start up, forcing you to make a system restore.

Never buy or use driver scanner software, especially when you use a laptop. You can update all your drivers simply by going to the manafacturers website so why are you using a driver scanner

Because the drivers on the manufacturers web page are only for the softwares that came from them, i.e. the softwares and hardwares that came with the laptop. And by the way, I only noticed 23 drivers on the Driver and Software page of the manufacturer's website (Specifically for my product) and this driver scanner software notice 80 drivers on my computer. Is there something I'm missing on the manufacturer's website? Is there actually another webpage full of drivers

I'm very sorry for the late reply, the main reason why I bought the driver scanner software is because the manufacturers website only has drivers for the stuff that came with the 1st hand laptop, i.e. what they themselves put on the laptop by default from their factory.

"The driver scanner software detected 88 drivers on my system and the manufacturers website doesn't even have up to 30 software drivers. Or is there something I am not seeing on the website? Again sorry for my late reply, I mis thought that I had previously done so.
