Microsoft .Net framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

Hi Scorpio Moon, welcome to the board.

I feel you on this; but I don't have any problems at all for over a year with all the window updates. I only install the ones says important, though. I did have a couple of wiped outs trying different registry cleaners, are you sure your problem is not registry cleaner or virus related?

Next time you have any computer problems come here first before paying someone to help you.

Good luck.

Bruce

I too let this update install. I have had no issues related to this update. Seems to have installed just fine. I did wonder about it. I don't have much knowledge about .Net stuff.

No offence to anyone, but it's not truly the service packs that mess up the system. It's a messed up system that has so many old files, reg entries and corruption on it that crashes out when a Service Pack tries to replace already existing files which would normally cause no real harm.

Just keep the PC clean, don't install rubbish like CustoMess or Reg fixers etc etc. Keep it clean, defrag, and don't install/uninstall apps all the time. Choose what you want to have on the PC and stick to it till you can upgrade it :)

Well, no offense, but I find that part of your statement fairly ridiculous... It's like saying "buy yourself a new sound system and a couple of CD's and then don't buy any more music until get a new system"...

You bought your computer to run software on it, and over the life of that computer you're going to change your mind, develop new tastes, try new things, etc.

I would say that it's wise to limit yourself to good, reliable, tested apps. --ch

That's the trouble with downloading anything though. Even security apps like anti-malware. If they freak out & get buggy  you need to uninstall them (if you can). MS Defender is probably a perfectly fine realtime malware detector, but I like to have other options, like SAS & MBAM. Plus, for the uninitiated, there are some dodgy apps out there in cyberspace. I wish I had known more about RealPlayer before I downloaded it. Luckily, it uninstalls relatively easily. I am now far more of a geek...:geek: so I should be OK (maybe)!

Hmmm, depends on how you read the statement perhaps. I'm just saying do not install anything I mean if you want to its a users choice, so sweet as, I do install the random app now and than. Though if I don't trust or know an app, just run it on a virtual windows session. Virtual PC 2007 is free to download from MS :)
Though not everyone might be able to setup the OS.

And yeah, generally try to stick to tested apps :)

In the end I'm kinda trying to say that the more you install/uninstall all the time, the more likely the OS is to crash. Nothing to do with MS service packs. Only a very small percentage of users have problems. A lot of times they are not due to the patch itself. MS does test things before releasing it :)
