Microsoft Security Essentials CRASHING

hi is anyone experiencing mse crashing? when i click on the icon in start menu it shows on the screen for 3 seconds and no icon in notification area? but task manager reports its running?

Have you tried re-installing it?

hi thanks for reply yes we have (its my friends laptop) and we put a fresh copy on but still the same it shows for between 3 - 5 seconds and then its gone when you click on the start menu icon and there is nothing in the taskbar to say its open only in task manager?

Hey Brian
Try a clean boot. If the problem is solved, you can use clean boot procedure to find the cause

Hope it works. Sounds like a conflict, somewhere.

yes i never have seen it happen before normally something like this would repair it with a fresh install i thought.

Fresh install works only if the problem is with MSE. Your problem is elsewhere, that is why I am going with clean boot. The next step would be safe mode. I am trying to find the cause
