mmc has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it

Re-registering dll files did not work....
Event viewer displays the same error in the safe mode.... My Task manager display problem with the snap in service and my windows experience score is blank and it will not update....
So I am not sure with other options are there apart from repairing install.

I don't understand. Can't you restore system from system level (method two -it no strange) or don't you have "repair computer" option in Vista DVD? -I saw this things also

I did not check my vista DVD for repair computer option? I will this coming weekend when I have more time to do things just in case something goes wrong and reinstall is the only option.
Can I check this while I am in windows or do I have to boot from it?

if you want use System Restore from Vista DVD you have to boot DVD
If you decide on Repair Install you have to do on allive system -this option is not available on boot up

So you're saying I start up my rig, go to Vista, insert Vista DVD and take it from there...That part is easy.
What is that going to do to my updates? Will I have to download it again?

During repair install all updates are downloaded and installed again (of course if you are connected with internet).By System Restore you lost only these updates installed after creating checkpoint.

Well
After few attempts trying to fix above error, other things started to fail.... no sound, internet connection...

This morning I put Vista DVD and started to install again, but not clean install rather over existing one. now everything works fine. Visa was kind enough to put all of my old file in Windows.old folder ( which I am going to delete ). I have recovered all my important documents ( I did have them backed up on external hard drive ) and now everything works fine.

Me happy again.
