Multiple login to device/server w-same login

What's up with Vista 64 (Vista) not allowing the same user; login/pass to acess a network device?

I've got a small network in my office and I have just purchased a new laptop with Vista64 on it. I'm trying to access a Network drive device with my login/pass (it works on all other computers) but not the Vista64 box?

I get an error: "share is not accessible. You might not have permission (which I know my login/pass does becuase I'm logged in with XP on two other boxes).

But there's the paragraph; "Multiple connections to a server or shared resouces by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed, Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again".

What the heck I want to keep the same login (ME) to access a devise... is this really how it has to be with Vista?

You might have to add your domain user account into the local admin on your pc. So login to that pc as the administrator, add your domain account as a local admin in manage accounts, try again

That's what's odd... I am the Admin on the Vista64 laptop. And my login/pass is the admin for the device(s).

I also just tried making a new user on the network device and still I can't access it.

its not Vista, Vista recognises that problem i guarantee if it was the other way around and you were adding a new XP machine to your network it would be the same. Try to logon to your server and change the settings there in active directory.

actually, I can login to the device from XP I can also login to the device from 2 other XP boxes and the Mac.

The device is a Buffalo Terrabyte Network drive. The domain's in setup on it. My login/pass is set as a user. All the other systems allow me to login.

I'm baffled as to why Vista does not allow login.

renew your ip address on the network, maybe you are not on the same subnet

I can see the device. I can hit it. The login/pass just fails. I've restarted twice, that's not it.

there's the paragraph; "Multiple connections to a server or shared resouces by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed, Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again".

Why would this happen? I also can hit and login to other machines/servers. It's just this Network device and another computer that give me this error.

did you read the problem, try a restart if that doesnt work, unmap all the drives from the xp machines and the mac and try the vista and then add the others again

I restarted the Network drive (Buffalo network device) and restarted the routers too, and my laptop... still same error.

Yet, I can go to any other box and login. I just went to two XP computers and with the same login/pass I logged in on both.

What does Vista do differently? Than XP? for a network login.
