Need link to Vista Home Basic ISO download

My dad's laptop has crashed, and he needs his OS re-installed. It was Vista home basic (32-bit). He has a valid serial key, and I simply need a link to the ISO download. I've been able to find plenty of ISOs for Windows 7, but those are obviously of no help in this situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

There is no such thing as a legal Windows-anything ISO download. All of them out there are pirated or somehow otherwise illegally obtained. It's also against the EULA to provide such information. Doesn't the laptop come with a recovery partition and some means of using it? You'd have to check with the manufacturer or the shop where it was bought on that score.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode by tapping F8 repeatedly and selecting that from the ensuing menu? From there you could possibly initiate a System Restore to before the problem started. Don't forget to update immediately afterwards if successful.

Hi,

Would a Vista Ultimate upgrade back-up disk be ok?

It contains all versions & is selectable on booting!

Hi,

For a download of 2.86Gig (32Bit) or 3.66Gig (64Bit) you would need to spend a some time waiting for the download to complete.

Could you not take "the version advice" & "Find a friend" with the correct media?

As long as you are using your own key there's nothing stopping you using someone else's disk. The Ultimate DVD contains all versions of Vista - it simply installs whatever version is appropriate by reading the key you input early on in the process.

It's only the Ultimate version that has them all or to be correct allows that to be done, or so I believe. A Google search might verify that.

Hi,

Lets talk about the use of a Windows disk for a minute: -

It's like slipstreaming a Service Pack into an existing disk. The disk created is not a Genuine MS produced disk but works as if it was.

So can you get a hold of a disk which has been "Updated" by incorporating a service pack into the image? as per this tutorial: -

If this were true, then why does windows provide windows 7 usb/dvd download tool for .iso downloads? Not only that but .iso downloads are listed as an option at microsoftstore.com

Other software comes in .iso format so that tool has its uses, but if you find Windows online as a download then it has to be illegal unless it's coming from a Microsoft website such as Technet where you would have to be a member anyway.
