Can anyone talk a complete novice how to network a desktop using XP Pro and a laptop using Vista Home Premiun please?

I've tried thesetup wizards with no sucesses, just a boat load of frustration!!

I know there is info in this forum about how to do this. All I can recall is make the XP machine and the VIsta machine the same "workgroup" in the networking properies.
